Our Professional Marble Care Services
Marble Cleaning: Over time, dirt can start to collect in the pores of marble floor tiles. This dirt is difficult to get out with routine cleaning, so it is best to call in the professionals. We can also assist with the removal of many types of marble stains.
Marble Maintenance: If you want to keep your marble looking its best for years then maintenance is a must. Some maintenance you can do on your own but for cleaning, polishing, sealing, and other complex maintenance issues we are here to help.
Marble Polishing: Though marble is a hard stone, it can still get scratches or dull patches, especially in high traffic areas. It is also vulnerable to etching from contact with acidic substances. At Fuller Stone Care, we provide superior quality marble polishing services that can restore the desired finish to your stone. Our unique dustless process provides an even polish to every corner of each floor tile, without creating a bunch of messy dust.
Marble Restoration: Marble can look incredible for centuries but only if it is properly taken care of. If you have marble that has not been properly cared for then we can help. Call on us for assistance with chip and crack repair, stain removal, and other restoration services.
Marble Sanitizing: Just like you need to keep your marble surfaces clean, you need to keep them sanitized too. At Fuller Stone Care we select the ideal pressure level and temperature so that our power washing sanitizes the marble. We also use sanitizing agents when necessary. If you have specific sanitization needs, let us know.
Marble Sealing: Fuller Stone Care uses only the best marble sealing products that will protect your stone without obscuring its natural color and beauty. We always clean the marble thoroughly and let it dry before applying the sealant to ensure you get the best possible results. When you add anti-slip sealant to your marble floor, you will be making it safer for everyone who walks on your floors.
Marble Care FAQs
Does Marble Have to Be Sealed?
YES. Marble is a porous stone, which means that anything you spill on it can be absorbed into the stone and react with various minerals present in the marble. For example, if water or acid spills on the marble, it will react with the calcium in the stone, causing etch marks. And if you spill red wine or coffee, you may end up with a stain. By applying a sealant, you can reduce pore size to make spills easier to clean up before they do damage.
How Often Is Marble Polishing Needed?
It all depends on use and care. Due to abrasion, the finish will wear faster in high traffic areas or areas where grit is not cleaned up promptly.
How Often Is Marble Sealing Needed?
Marble sealing is recommended once per year. However, if the surface is not getting much use (such as in a vacation home) you may be able to seal less frequently.
What Type of Marble Sealant Is Best?
It is extremely important to select a penetrating marble sealer, rather than a topical sealer. A penetrating sealer gets into the pores of the stone to provide ample protection while still letting the stone breathe. A topical sealer just sits on top of the stone in a layer that often turns dull or hazy.
Assuming the sealing properties carried by the media are the same, an oil-based sealer or a water-based sealer will work equally well. However, water-based sealers are considered more environmentally friendly and also allow for a faster sealing process. We also generally recommend slip-resistant marble sealant.
Does Marble Sealing Prevent Stains?
Marble sealing does not make your stone stain-proof. What it does is significantly slow the rate of absorption so you have more time to clean up spills before they have a chance to cause damage.
What’s the Difference Between a Honed and Polished Finish?
Honed marble has a satin finish, while polished marble has a much shinier finish. In addition to this difference in appearance, there is a difference in pore size. Surface pores in honed marble are not reduced as much as in polished marble, making honed marble more susceptible to dirt and stains.
How Do I Care for My Marble Shower Tile?
As with any type of marble, your marble shower tile must be cleaned with a specially formulated cleaner such as our “Natural Stone Cleaner and Conditioner.” Never use abrasive cleaners that could scratch or dull the stone or acidic cleaners like vinegar or lemon juice that could cause etching. In order to prevent water damage and mold and mildew growth, we recommend you use a squeegee to remove excess water from your tile after every shower. If you wish you can also dry the tile with a towel.
